MEMBER SPOTLIGHTIn the tenth installment of our "Member Spotlight", we're featuring the guy who recently displaced me at the top of the Leaderboard for weighted pullups. I should've "No Rep'd" him. I guess it's not too late.... Anyway, back to the main focus. He joined the SHOP as soon as he started Pharmacy School at OSU two years ago, and he's been a regular in the mornings and open gym ever since. He's also the guy that warms up with the 88lb kettlebell! Yeah, he's pretty strong!

First, give us a little background on yourself.I was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV. I went to the University of Nevada, Reno for undergraduate and lived in Reno for six years. I moved to Corvallis two years ago to start pharmacy school at OSU.What got you started and how long have you been at the SHOP?I started CrossFit 4 years ago in Reno at Elite Boxing and Fitness club, and have been at the SHOP for 2 years now. Before CrossFit, I worked out 24 hour fitness and UNR's gym. I also have completed home workouts like P90X, Insanity, and TapOut XT. I got interested in CrossFit after watching the games in 2013.

With what movement(s) have you seen the most progress?

Movements that I've seen the most progress since being at the SHOP are double under's and weighted pullups. (you had to rub it in, didn't ya?)

What do you like to do outside the gym?

Outside of the gym (and school), I like to travel and always try to spend some time back in Nevada. I've been enjoying Oregon since moving here either with hikes, the local markets and trying local food.

What movement(s) would you like to improve on in the next few months?

I would still like to improve my double unders, but I would like to improve my front/back squat and bench press too.

Favorite place to eat in/near Corvallis?

I would have to say Broken Yolk Cafe for breakfast and then Block 15 for their Tuscan chicken sandwich.

What advice would you give members just starting out at the SHOP?

Scale the workout to your needs and do what is best for you (everyone has their own limits) and don't push yourself too hard without proper setup and technique.
